Last Friday, Berkeley SkyDeck hosted the Berkeley Civic Innovation Challenge (CIC) Grand Prize Pitch Day, a joint initiative by UC Berkeley Big Ideas and the City of Berkeley.

The room reflected the unique DNA of the Berkeley ecosystem: deep technical rigor, cross-sector collaboration, and founders building for scale. The judging panel featured Chancellor Rich Lyons, Berkeley Mayor Adena Ishii, and Director of Big Ideas at Berkeley, Phillip Denny. The event was moderated by UC Berkeley’s Chief Innovation Officer, Darren Cooke. In a true full-circle moment, Mayor Ishii herself was a former challenge winner!
