We’re looking for social media marketing and event management interns to help us with accelerator operations and promotion! Opportunities to learn and grow will come quickly in this role, as we look for self-starters who are interested in joining the UC Berkeley Innovation ecosystem.

While these roles are unpaid, there is opportunity for college credit and involvement in the exciting startup community at UC Berkeley. As an intern, you will be able to attend exclusive SkyDeck events, such as Berkeley Acceleration Method workshops, SkyTalks, Partner Roundtables, weekly networking events, and Demo Day. Our office provides the best view in Berkeley, with a 360 ̊ view, and top investors and industry professionals are constantly in the office.

    Social Media and Marketing Intern:

  • Updates Facebook, Linkedin, and Twitter with news, announcements, current photos or other content from SkyDeck activities and events
  • Drive SkyDeck brand within the UC Berkeley and VC community by responding to posts or comments
  • Reviews data on the performance of social media platforms and adjusts plans or strategies to optimize reach
  • Content creation for SkyDeck promotional materials (print, digital, web)
  • Draft blog posts, SkyDeck newsletters, Investor letters, etc
    • Requirements:

  • Creative self-starter who is comfortable with both taking initiative and working in collaboration
  • Detail orientated with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Reviews data on the performance of social media platforms and adjusts plans or strategies to optimize reach
  • Experience with social media, basic photo-editing software. Experience with Photoshop and InDesign a plus.
  • Available to work 8-10 hours per week

      Event Management Intern:

  • Plan and coordinate details of events such as SkyTalks, workshops, competitions, Demo Day, etc
  • Ensure event is completed smoothly and resolve any problem that might occur
  • Come up with suggestions to enhance the event’s success
  • Aid the creation and distribution of promotion materials for event
  • Willing to be a team player by completing tasks including event set-up, photography of events, etc
    • Requirements:

  • Proficient in MS Office. Experience with Eventbrite and MailChimp preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Customer-service orientated
  • A team player with leadership skills
  • Available to work 8-10 hours a week
