Hopsy: The New SkyTeam Beer Disruptor
This week, Hopsy was acknowledged by the San Francisco Chronicle for differentiating its products and services from pre-existing alcohol distribution services by focusing on local breweries, serving exclusively growlers (reusable beer jugs) and ensuring freshness.
Hopsy’s innovative business model eliminates the distributor in the traditional three-tier distribution model by serving beer directly from producers. Breweries are incentivized to collaborate with the small business because it cuts their costs, while simultaneously cutting costs for the customer and expanding their customer bases.
The excitement over Hopsy’s recent opening has caused them to continually sell-out and many are anxiously awaiting their delivery expansion beyond the East Bay (anticipated to occur in February). Hopsy is currently partnered with 10 local breweries and serving 20 different beers.
